The Charles Darwin Foundation is an international nonprofit organization that operates the Charles Darwin Research Station. It is the first international organization to engage in conservation activities in the Galápagos Islands, starting in 1959. Currently, it has over 100 staff members from all over the world involved in a range of activities, including surveying the Galápagos Islands’ marine and terrestrial life and ecosystems, promoting island nature conservation efforts, and providing environmental education to local residents.
The Charles Darwin Foundation logo is engraved on the case back, and the statement “Apoyo la conservación de Galápagos.” (Spanish for “I support Galápagos conservation.”) is printed on the band. The watch comes complete with special, plastic-free packaging. The unique appearance of the hammerhead shark, with its head that protrudes laterally in a “T” shape, appears in silhouette form. A sea-inspired, all-over pattern decorates the face, and the band loop features a die-cut hammerhead shark motif. A silhouette of the shark also appears on the LCD when the backlight is illuminated.
