A mechanical Hi-Beat in Ever-Brilliant Steel
SBGH299 features Grand Seiko’s modern 44GS design, a contemporary take on the 44GS that first launched in 1967 and formed the cornerstone of the Grand Seiko Style.
The case and bracelet are made of Ever-Brilliant Steel, a stainless-steel alloy that features even greater corrosion resistance than what is typically used across the watch industry today. It has a PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number) value 1.7 times higher than that of the grade of steel used in most high-class watches. Visually, it also has a brilliant white hue that enhances the beauty and Zaratsu finishing of the watch.
The dial catches the eye and contrasts beautifully against the multi-faceted hands and hour indexes that give it the depth and dimensionality that are emblematic of Grand Seiko design.
Powering the watch is Hi-Beat Caliber 9S85, which runs at 36,000 bph, delivers an accuracy of +5 to -3 seconds a day, and offers a 55-hour power reserve.
